For twenty or more years residents of Carrollton and Carroll County have worked diligently to gain possession of, and to preserve, the 1800’s Historic Carrollton Depot, known originally as the Bradley Street Station. Finally, under the joint cooperation of the Carroll County Historical Society and the City of Carrollton, the Depot was transferred from the Norfolk/Southern Railway to the city for the sum of only one dollar. SPLOST and grant monies, along with private contributions will enable the city to move forward with quality preservation, to the end that the Depot will become a nationally known attraction, not only for railroad enthusiasts, but also as a magnet for historians, tourists, and for children and adults wishing to view the tourist center, museum, and a state-of-the-art model railroad exhibit.
